The position involves utilizing highly advanced technical capabilities in conjunction with excellent communication/networking skills to assist with the design and implementation of effective solutions that can be easily supported by the production DBAs.

Duties and reponsibilities

Production database support

– Ensure successful deployment of installations/upgrades within the production environment (Continuous delivery)
– Provide knowledge transfer and training to global production DBA team on previous deployments
– Provide incident and problem management for our internal and client-facing platforms
– Performance-tune database server environments to ensure service delivery expectations
– Manage data feeds within the production environment
– Ensure successful delivery of solution to technical and business expectations, including high availability, business continuity planning, efficient code usage, etc.

Database management and support

– Ensure successful deployment of installations/upgrades within the development environment
– Performance-tune database server environments to ensure development teams expectations are met
– Manage global DEV, QA and Integration database environments (eg, support, operation, maintenance, capacity planning, etc.)
– Manage data feeds within the development environment
– Create and own database/data flow deployment documentation
– Key liaison for the DBA team to the development teams for solution design

Standards and review of technology

– Define and enforce database technology best practices
– Research and implement new technologies

Skills and Experience required

– Bachelor’s degree
– Excellent standard of spoken and written English
– Strong DBA experience with Microsoft SQL Server
– Strong knowledge of T-SQL
– Solid experience with performance tuning
– Full understanding of product release life cycle
– Full understanding of the software development life cycle
– Strong knowledge of database disaster recovery procedures
– Experience with high-availability solutions
– Experience of working in an agile development environment
– Strong work ethic

– Proactive approach to work

Practical experience

– Previous development experience a distinct advantage
– Working with a large number of servers and databases in a global environment
– Working knowledge of SSIS, SSAS and SSRS
– Previously worked within a matrix managed environment
– Experience of using scripting languages for automation of installations and upgrades
– Familiarity with finance industry/international financial markets
